Ahhh awesome, you know the guy who owns it do you? Every time i have been i have only fished the Folly Pond.
What baits do you find works there best Kingfisher? i have found that on that lake i have had more luck using Luncheon Meat and bread over Boilies, maybe i am using the wrong flavoured Boilies ya reckon??

hello m8 yes his name is will i find that mag and caster works best there this time of year and folly is very hard this time of year  your best to stick to the start of the lakes as you go in alice, popluors, rock, long island, meadows, oasis  if you stick to 1 of those and feed a pich of caters every 3min and fish 2lb hooklenth and 16-18 hook but only 2 rod lenths out then you will catch all day hope this helps tight lines

Awesome thanks for the tips mate, i know its far too early for the Folly at the back, gonna have to wait for it to warm up a fair bit first there i think. Are maggots just as good when frozen or is it fresh is best? just i heard some people freeze them to make them last longer....never been a fan of thst idea though....might get it mixed up with me Mince

Maggots are generally frozen so that when they are fed into a swim they stay put and do not bury themselves in the silt.
Also they can be used in an open-ended feeder or method feeder and cannot wriggle and break up the groundbait in flight.
Dead maggots on the hook is popular when feeder fishing.

Sorry to barge in but can I just ask on fisheries like this where there is a rule against using groundbait, does that mean you can't use method feeders? It's probably a daft question but I just want to check! Fished Hampton a lot early last year, mainly on willows before the regular weekend matches started and I would like to go back but had best results using method feeders last year...

Just to clarify when I say I had my best results on the method feeder I mean at fisheries where I knew it was permitted, not Hampton springs!

Ahh thanks Dave, that actually makes a lot of sense.
As far as i am aware Scouse, as long as there is no groundbait in using a method then it should fine (Maggot Feeder).Atleast this is what I believe

Some fisheries allow method feeder with groundbait, some only allow method feeder as long as it is packed with pellets (often their own coarse pellets!), some don't allow a method feeder at all.
Phone the fishery a day or two before you go and they'll clarify the rules.

Hi Scouse,
Hampton changed their rules a couple of months ago. All feeders, including method are now allowed but no groundbait, only Hampton's own pellets.
