Always did well with worm on Bala. Although not fished it for a few years.
Down at bottom end near mouth of river on the campsite, if there are not too many rugrats around.
I've never fished the lake but many years ago, I fished the Dee coming out of it & caught a lovely grayling about 1.5lbs.
I seem to remember someone telling me that you have to fish a slider in some parts because it's so deep. The fella said he was standing on his box to reel in when he was fishing a fixed float.
Well done both of you sounds like you had a great time, least you had better weather than we had round here rained most of the day.Well done wend on a PB perch.Where about on Bala were you, havn't fished there for 30years Paul
At the end where the dee exits and has been canalised there is what i would call a small inlet/lake accessible off the road. Pike hang around there and also breed. I sat watching mini pikes about 2 inches long in the sedges. Sadly the evidence of pike anglers strewn around -empty bait packets.
It's been a while since I went to Bala but myself and friends used to avoid the Bala Town end (where the River Dee runs out) due to utter chaos of anglers, swimmers and sailors. Our view was if we were travelling that far to a natural water we wanted to fish away from all the nonsense.
If the weather was reasonable we used to go up the A494 side of the lake and fish large waggler. If the weather was poor we would go up the other side of the lake along the B4403 (the railway side) and fish feeder. Used to get perch, roach and occasional grayling. I've also witnessed a few small pike caught.
it is very peace full if you stay away from the carpark that is pictured on here as any1 who knows the lake this is shallow end and the fish stay in the deeper water this time of year church shore or railway shore is very good if you can fish waters like these there is nothink like a big natural for a challenge tight lines
you can go into the rangers office and get 1 or you can ring the rangers the day be4 and they will come to where you are fishing they are great lads would do anythink 4 you tight lines
