Re: Yew Tree Small Lake

Big Joe
Went fishing today with the kids at the small lake in Yew Tree. All in all had a reasonable day and caught a few silvers and a nice mirror and a lovely crucian carp.  Bit cold the wind but still good to get out!

May give claremount or Larton a go on Friday unless anyone has got any suggestions????

hi big joe

your better going to damhead, rather than claremont or larton, its fishing ok mate, a bit more sheltered from the wind at damhead.
and stuart the owner is a great guy, he will put you straight on whats going on there, and what baits to use .
try using soft pellet over micros, or 4mm pellets thrown out.
as i said, ask stuart, he will put you right mate.

Big Joe
Cheers Kevie,

Will give it a go on Friday then.  My youngest son will be fishing on the whip.  Any idea how deep it is so I can get some rigs ready.  He needs to catch often or he gets bored.  What are the best pegs to keep him busy???

Does Stuart sell any soft pellet at Damhead - can you recommend what type of pellet? Got plenty of 1mm micros but will need to invest in 4mm

Cheers
Joe

fish pegs 4 to 9, or pegs 17,18,19,20.
1st lot of pegs about 3 to 4ft deep, and 17,18,19,20, about 4 to 5ft deep, no need to go far out, as fish are mostly close in, about 6mtrs out, feed micros little and often, use 4mm soft pellets on hook, but you can also use maggots, if ur son wants to catch the silvers, use maggots.
message stuart on his web site, to ask about any pellets mate.
www.damheadfishery.co.uk.
and he will message you back, usually straight away joe.
the carp are relatively new, so they will take soft pellet readily, as thats what they were fed on at the place where they came from, when stuart bought them.
pegs 5,6,7,8, and 9 will be ok, as the wind will be behind you there.
tight lines joe
