Yew Tree Big Lake

Amateur
Fished big lake today.
It was packed.
Horrible cross wind and showers.
Float fished at bottom of ledge, plenty of action from skimmers on 6mm expanders but not much else.
Did hook one beast ?tench (blob of slime on hook) but hook pulled out.
Fed a margin swim and tried a couple of times without any indications.
Had to leave early as darling daughter wanted the car. Why did I teach the kids to drive?

nice one buddy sounds like u had a good day  fella.  Could you ggive me some advice please? ive fished yew tree a few times but always fished the small lake ( had some crackers last summer), i fish flatbed feeder with hair rig.
What tactics would you recommend on the larger lake my friend for a good bag of fish and also have you used cheese on there bud and if so does it work ( or should i stick to meat bud?).
Sorry bout the long text bro but ive bin out of commission for some time due to ill health and am just getting back into it bud.

regards and respect :karl.

Hi Karl

All methods will work at Yew Tree on their day
Fish the flat method feeder on the large lake too, and you will catch.
For a good mixed bag you can't go far wrong with the float, (or pole, but not my thing really)
In the winter I use maggot, usually up in the water, when its warmer, pellet, meat or corn on the bottom. I have used cheese paste and taken some good fish.
Have also used mussels, and these picked out the better fish.
Everyone seems to fish their own way, but if you keep the feed going in regularly the fish will appear, no matter what method you use.

hi karl,

what amateur said was very good advice m8.... you cant go far wrong if u feed little and often at yew tree (either lake)... i have had some nice bags of fish using the pole just off the shelf in the big lake, i fish pellet and feed micros and maggoter every few seconds!.. if you keep the bait going in you will do well. if you want more tips visit..... http://www.youtube.com/my_videos?feature=mhee.....i have another vid coming up soon!!

glad you had fun, it fishes better in the summer and as you fish it more you will gain knowledge about the water so you will know to use a feeder or pole! :)
