River/Canal fishing

B19j4y
Was thinking of giving a river or canal fishing a go either this next weekend or end of month but not sure where i can go, is there still any stretches of river or canals that are free? also what you would suggest to use bait wise.... any info would be much appreciated

The River Dee at Farndon Bridge (on the English side) is free and is good at this time of year either stick float and maggot/caster or small feeder but you have to get there early in the morning as it is very popular.

The Llangollen Canal out in Cheshire can be good in winter. Have a read of my piece about it on this site.
