Putting more ravenous carp into the lake won't help the tench fishing.
Best take advantage of the tench fishing before it deteriorates.

Hi Dave
From what I can gather from YewTree that will be the last of the stocking of carp
I think he is concentrate on tench now.

Maybe the owners intentions are good but in small lakes large numbers of carp don't mix with tench.
The tench will wither and die over a period of years.

This is very true, but you usually find this when it heavily stocked particularly with F1`s
As there no F1`s in there and the water is so deep giving a greater volume this particular lake can hold a reasonable head of carp according to the IE.
I was the bailiff of fishery in Anglesey until 12 months ago and it did have that exact problem, it is only just now getting the tench back after 2 years of nettings

I hope you are right but I remain unconvinced.
My club lake and Harthill spring to mind as waters were the tench fishing has been destroyed and no F1's were involved.

The re-stocking at YewTree is only to replace fish that have died over winter not as additional stock.

In full agreement, Wendy. I find carp fishing boring & I think it all became too scientific. Boilies, bivvies, bite alarms....even little motor boats to transport your bait out!! Definitely not angling for me.

I'd much rather have a nice mixed bag of tench, roach etc.

The answer is that you can't watch a float for 24 hours, 36 hours, 48 hours etc.
Carpers who fish small, overstocked commercial waters for a few hours probably could floatfish and be successful but you can't on understocked carp waters where you may have to fish for days for a run.
