Annual February half term trip managed a 7 hour stint up and down the upper Severn near Welshpool. feeder, trotting and spinning. River looked ok despite carrying a couple of extra feet of water. blankety blank except for a small brown that savaged a size 4 mepps copper aglia.(trout returned) Lovely to see the hedgerows full of snow drops and the lapwings circling in a wintry sky .Oh well . try a local fishery tomorrow just to see the float dip (hopefully)
Pity the fishing wasn't good but I'll bet it was still rewarding.
I love fishing remote, quiet stretches of river. Commercial pools don't do much for me.
Just a pity the Severn is 50 miles away!
