Feed hemp downstream of where you stand (because it is heavy) and feed maggots opposite or slightly upstream of where you stand.

What do you think about using a match rod?

Many anglers, including myself, still use a 13ft match rod for fishing a stick float or big waggler. A 15 - 20ft rod is better of course but I can't justify the expense considering the few times I trot.
