Fishing the River Alyn

Thinking of having a try on the river Alyn in the Altmere Ferry area
Anybody got any info on it

Have fished the Alyn in Rossett on the fly many times when I was a member of Rossett Fly Fishers, plenty of nice Grayling and Brownies, not too sure what the fishing is like in the Almere area.

I love the Alyn. Fish near Ithells farm where there are some deeper swims. If you get the conditions right its a bite a cast with grayling and brownies. I've had grayling here to 2lb 4oz.

Hi Steve, I'm new to this forum. The website is very informative, especially for someone like myself who has moved to the Wirral in the last few years.

I had a go on the Warrington Anglers stretch on the Alyn today and had some terrific Grayling sport with fish up to a 1lb. I also had a Chub of around 2lb that gave me a hell of a run around on light float tackle in the shallow water.

I would post the photos except that I dropped my mobile phone in to the river and needless to say, it no longer works! Lovely stretch of river though. Worth travelling light and wading.

Glad you like the forum, you should get some good info on fishing on the Wirral, but not to many rivers around here unless you travel

Was in W.A.A. last year so I could try river fishing, without much success.

Hard luck on the phone , hope you had it insured
