I am the owner of Barnacre Fishery near Saughall Massie. It is a fishery established for over 20 years and offers excellent quality fishing. We offer a small friendly, peaceful environment. We only allow fishermen who look after the fish, look after the lake, look after the facilities and look after each other. For this reason we are a member only lake. Membership ranges from £19-£36 per month. We also offer a £10 taster day. We are currently setting up a website with Steve Cotterill's help on www.wirralfishing.com which we hope will be live within a few weeks. In the meantime we can be contacted on barnacrewirral@aol.com or 0151 641 0773 or 07753807611. If you are interested in joining please make an appointment and I will personally meet you and walk round the lake. best wishes, Russell

Can I ask how many members you have, Russell?
The reason I ask is that the monthly membership fee seems very steep in the current economic climate. Especially when you have clubs that charge only £50 odd for the year & give you access to many more waters. The water may be brilliant, I don't know. Although I drive past the entrance often, I've never seen the lake. |

i must admit that this is a bit steap and not many people can afford that sort of money mabe open it as a day ticket water an you will get a lot of people coming there tight lines

We are very confident we offer excellent value for money and we have many happy smiling anglers at the end of the days fishing.
Given the current economic climate we have introduced cheaper midweek memberships. To give you an idea of hte difference fishing at Barnacre, 10 years ago the membership was a flat £500 a year and there was a waiting list.
best wishes,
Russell

Also to answer a query made outside the forum. The membership rates at £19-£36 per month include unlimited fishing with no additional daily charges. This also includes the lakeside facilities to make refreshments with kettle, microwave, toaster etc and the toilet.

Barnacre,
Hi Russell. Please don't take the posts in the wrong way, they are only giving their opinion. I have no doubt you keep an excellent fishery with excellent facilities, and for people who are retired and can fish anytime it probably is good value. I only get to fish one day a week if I am lucky, so thats why a monthly subscription is not a vaiable option. I am sure Steve will do an excellent job on your website. Still would like the option of a day ticket though!! LOL Best Regards Dave |

hello russ a lot of people would like day ticket i understand y you are not having it and i was a member when steve my friend had it and there was a week day ticket then and i like to say it was very good fishing and a few of my friends are still members and thay have a good time there tight lines

Day tickets would be a nice idea as alot of people are in the same boat as they have responsibilites be it family work etc and can only make 1 days fishing a week, in my case i am lucky if i get to go more than 2 times a month..... also wouldn't you earn more doing a day ticket, if you police it enough as it is you will soon see if foul play is afoot... upto you guys obviously but business wise surely it would make sense?
Tight lines!

Hi Kingfisher, Thanks for your interest. I will reconfirm we have no plans for day tickets. We do offer a taster day at £10 which is deductable from your first months membership. I don't recall anyone having a taster day and not joining as yet.
best wishes, Russell |
