Just seen this post on Maggotdrowners forum. It was not me I would add.

Skived off work with the intention of doing a bit of local bass plugging but decided it was way to windy so went to Yew Tree at Thorton Hough again. There were a couple of guys setting up to do a feature for the Angling Times. I don't know what they caught because I was hiding behind my brolly, I suppose if they bagged up I won't get on next week!
They should have bagged up because even I did.
I started fishing light for silvers and by lunchtime had at least 20lb of skimmers, roach, ide and a bonus "proper" crucian about a pound, all on single 6mm pellet on a size 18 to 2lb hooklength. I then started hooking carp and although I wasn't getting bust, the little hook was pulling out too often, so I scaled up to a 14 wide gape straight to 5lb mainline. As expected that put the silvers off a bit but it didn't put anything else off.
Five tench to 5lb, three barbel to about 3lb and a load of carp, most only about one to two pound but one about six. Even the bream started taking the heavy gear later on as the water got really warm. Most successful bait was two 6mm pellets threaded up and above the hook with a 6mm floating expander on the hook bend to make things neutral.

Totting it up in my head I reckoned I had at least 40lb without the carp and seven different species. Glad I didn't go bass fishing now

Who was it from Angling Times??

Anyone got a clue?

Regards

Dave
