Algae Problems

fish41
Just an update on the algae bloom problem. Following an aborted pike session at Woodslee due to algae I phoned the pollution control officer who said retests had been done on Captains pit and central park and were still showing signs of algae. Woodslee is due to be retested but just looking at the water there seemed to still be a lot in suspension. He is hoping that a cold snap will kill off the algae. The warning notices only "advise" not to fish. I dont know if you can cross infect if it gets on your nets.

Still lots of tench and some good carp. Also got its head of small silver fish (think i had some small skimmers last time) Lots of pike but AWAC were talking about getting rid of them which seems a shame as we dont have many pike waters on Wirral. Its a nice little pond in a nice setting and easily accessible just spoilt by the usual dog crap and occasional noisy anglers.

Hot weather a couple of weeks ago meant there's been an algae bloom on B'head top park. Cooler weather and good use of the aerator system means the algae has now gone. The fishing was dire for about three weeks .  F Y I  - Bottom park still fishing well though.
