I would like to say a huge thank you to Estham Angling Center for agreeing to sponsor me! As a young match angler this is a dream come true and i will now be working with them and making youtube videos for them! please pop in and speak to Dave in the shop, i would not be the angler i am without his help! And all i want to do now is enjoy fishing and improve!
Well done young chappie. Eastham today, England tomorrow !! Learning is life long. I wasnt fishing but learnt a few things at Damhead today just watching Karl margin fish and Wendy on method feeder for half an hour. Never too young never too old
was only there half an hour. Will leave karl to post up his day but he was getting a lot of roach in the margin on single red maggot with loose fed maggot. Fishing his whip or pole top off the large platform roadside. If your fishing the match try your usual tactics but also try a small piece of bread about the size of your little finger nail pinched and just hooked through. If the carp are not being fussy a white bait is visible compared to dark pellets. In the match before xmas i found it was picking out the carp. Small bread punch was getting bream and roach but you would need a lot of them to get a good weight if the carp are feeding.
Good luck. Might pop down in afternoon to see how everyones doing.
Hi haydn. Still mulling over a venue. Theres quite a number of factors involved, -- likely numbers, facilities, cost, help, location, access, safety. Try to do something a little different each year. Would be nice one year to try and make it more of a family day where mums dads etc can come down, chill out, light a BBQ !! go for walk. Will post info on Forum as well as email people. Although its a match its as much a day for youngsters to have a go at fishing--although it makes life easier if most know how to fish--maybe could have a separate fishin day for beginners --and could get some more experienced youngsters like yourself and even Sarah to show what to do.--- suppose its abit of a mission to get kids off the addictive unreal world of playstation/xbox/facebook etc etc and into the real world of nature which is far more interesting and satisfying or at least tipping the balance in favour of outdoors.
that sounds great, if we could have some sort of fun day for beginners i would be more than happy to help and give some small short lessons through out the day. And i am sure Sarah would to.
so a day for beginners as well as the match would be excellent! We would need a good venue so that they had a good chance of catching a nice bag of fish.
Also the match will be good if parents can come and see whats going on and have a chat, i would also love to make a video for the beginner day if that woukd be ok?
